THE WORLD AS IT IS AND THE WORLD AS IT COULD BE

ArteBA, Buenos Aires, June 3-7
Curated by Julieta González

In this edition, the Venezuelan curator Julieta González will present more than 40 works, performances and workshops of 35 international artists from 12 countries: Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Colombia, the Netherlands, Spain, United States, France, Puerto Rico, UK and Switzerland. The title of the exhibition which will occupy an area of 800 m2 at the fair is "The world as it is and the world as it could be." The curator was inspired by one of the diagrams of the British artist Stephen Willats, who proposes a world of transformation and change through self-organization.

"The desire to include this proposal in the local imaginary, such as the various libertarian and anarchist movements that emerged in Argentina in the late nineteenth century and the radical dimension and activist Argentine conceptualism of the 60s, are at the centre of this reflection on the relationship between temporary and ephemeral communities with the Utopian projects and motivations which inspired anarchists, libertarians, alternative and countercultural thought through modern history." Julieta González

With Stephen Willats, Marta Minujín, Noemí Escandell, Jaime Davidovich, Bik van der Pol, Beto Shwafaty, Carla Zaccagnini, Carlos Motta, Cabello&Carceller, Antonio Caro, Carolina Caycedo, Uriel Orlow, Beatriz Santiago, Wilson Díaz, Rometti&Costales, Ivald Granato, 3nose, Grupo Escombros, Eloisa Cartonera, Magdalena Jitrik, and others.
